The Planning Division’s mission is to provide comprehensive planning services to create a balanced and sustainable city that contributes to a high quality of life for our diverse community.
The Planning Division administers the City’s General Plan and Zoning Ordinance, reviews development applications, and plans for the future of the community. The Division also staffs the City's Planning Commission and Board of Architectural Review.
We are the place to go if you are thinking of starting a new business, adding on to your house or have any questions regarding the use or zoning of your property.
The Planning Division public counter is located on the second floor of the Seaside City Hall, to the right of the Council Chambers. Our Planning staff is available to assist you at the RMS Counter between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you want to open a business and do some research before coming to City Hall, the City of Seaside is proud to announce the launch of OpenCounter: Seaside. A web-based tool, Open Counter allows entrepreneurs to concentrate on their primary purpose: starting a business and creating jobs. It helps entrepreneurs interested in starting a business in Seaside to identify a location, understand the required approval process, and estimate the fees associated with setting up shop. The site is live and is in both English and Spanish.
