Special Olympics Annual Torch Run

2016 Torch Run Path

On June 14, 2016, the men and women of the Seaside Police Department, joined by members of both the Monterey Airport and Sand City Police Departments, participated in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run.  The purpose of the torch run is to raise awareness about the Special Olympics and the athletes that participate.  The torch is handed to several participating law enforcement agencies that carry it through many cities within the County of Monterey.

The Seaside Police Department received the torch from CA State University Monterey Bay Police Department on Coe Avenue and General Jim Moore Boulevard.  The torch was carried through the commercial areas of the City of Seaside, and then handed off to Monterey Police Department at Del Monte Boulevard, in front of Roberts Lake.
