With Opioid related drug abuse and deaths continuing to rise locally and across the country, the Seaside Police Department is pleased to announce officers will now carry Narcan. Narcan, which is a brand name for Naloxone, is administered as a nasal spray or injection. Seaside Police Officers have been approved by the Monterey County Emergency Medical Services Agency to carry and administer Narcan in the form of a nasal spray. Narcan can reverse the effects of an overdose from opiates such as heroin, fentanyl, Vicodin or OxyContin within minutes.
