Pavement Rehabilitation Phase 4

Granite Rock Company started construction of the FY 2021/2022 Pavement Rehabilitation Project for the City of Seaside on October 24, 2022. 

The Project construction includes pavement rehabilitation on Kimball Avenue from Fremont Boulevard to Wheeler Street and Wheeler Street from Hilby Avenue to Kimball Avenue, base repairs and slurry sealing of the northern and southern ends of Fremont Boulevard, several base repair locations throughout the City, and citywide street restriping.

UPDATE – Kimball & Wheeler Paving

Paving activities has been rescheduled to begin on February 6, 2023 unless delayed due to inclement weather.  Removal and replacement of pavement on Wheeler Street from Hilby Avenue to Kimball Avenue will occur on Monday, February 6th and Tuesday, February 7th.  Pavement work on Kimball Avenue from Fremont Boulevard to Wheeler Street will occur on February 8, 9, & 10th.  The final pavement lift for both streets is scheduled for Monday, February 13th.  On February 13th, access to the side streets to Kimball Avenue may be restricted for an hour.   

One-way traffic will be implemented and on-street parking will be restricted on Wheeler Street. The road will be closed to through traffic and on-street parking will be restricted during the paving activities on Kimball Avenue.  The contractor will assist residents with ingress and egress. Detours will be in place, motorist should expect delays, and alternative routes are recommended.  Traffic and pedestrian control will be in place for public safety.  Adhere to the “No Parking” signs.  Should you request special accommodations, please contact the Contractor at (831) 588-8517 or Leslie Llantero, Assistant Engineer at (831) 899-6832.

Fremont Paving

The base repair work on Fremont Boulevard is scheduled to begin the night of February 14, 2023 over a two-day period between the hours of 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Access to Fremont Boulevard during this work will be limited and Monterey Road will be closed. Changeable message signs will be in place 1 week prior to construction.  

Slurry sealing of Fremont Boulevard and citywide street restriping is postponed until spring 2023, when there are more favorable temperature and moisture conditions to perform the work.
