2023 Hot Spot Pavement Repairs

The City of Seaside will showcase the construction of the Hot Spot Pavement Repair Project on September 28, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the intersection of Alhambra Street and Elm Avenue.

The 2023 Hot Spot Project is part of a three prong approach to pavement rehabilitation and maintenance, along with the larger Pavement Rehabilitation project, currently in design, and the Public Works maintenance crew’s localized repair efforts.  The 2023 Hot Spot Project, already in progress, includes larger localized pavement repair called “digouts” at several locations throughout the City.  The City is anticipating a rainy winter and the “digouts” will prevent further damaged to the pavement caused by stormwater.  In addition to “digouts”, the contractor will also perform Thin Maintenance Overlays on four roadway segments.  Thin Maintenance Overlays, or TMO’s, are intended to hold the roadway together until funds are available for roadway reconstruction or rehabilitation.  This is the first time the City has incorporated TMO’s into its pavement management program, and with successful completion other streets may be candidates for this type of treatment.
