There are three water service providers who provide water to the City of Seaside. The northern areas of the City, north of Military Avenue, are serviced by Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) who can be contacted by phone at (831) 384-6131. A section of the easterly area is serviced by Seaside Municipal Water System, whose information can be found below. The remaining areas are serviced by California American Water who can be reached at (831) 373-3051.
Seaside Municipal Water System
The City of Seaside owns and operates a small municipal water system. This system includes one groundwater well and two 500,000 gallon water tanks. We pride ourselves on providing consistently high water quality and service. For additional information of water quality please see the 2010 Consumer Confidence Survey.
Water billing rates for the municipal water system have recently increased. This was done to cover the water systems cost of operations, maintenance, and capital improvement. For more information on water rates, click here. In the event water rationing is needed, a water usage survey has been created for customers to complete. All customers should have received the survey in the mail. Please complete and return the survey promptly. Customers are to submit an updated water usage survey whenever the number of full-time or part-time residents change.
Lack of water availability has been a historic problem on the Monterey Peninsula, including the Seaside Municipal Water System. In order to keep rates reasonable, water wise habits and conservation are incredibly important. Low flow toilets, showerheads, water efficient washing machines and dishwashers are great tools to effectively reduce your water consumption and are strongly encouraged by the Seaside Municipal System.
To assist customers of the Seaside Municipal Water System, a Water Conservation Plan has been adopted which provides rebates for purchasing and installing water conserving devices. Click on the links below to read the conservation plan, print a rebate application, or see a summary of devices which qualify for rebates. Every drop counts, so please use water wisely!
