Contract with Del Rey Oaks for sweeping ($13,000 per year) Storm drain installed on Del Monte to alleviate flooding in front of Holiday Inn Express
Lighted Crosswalk at Fremont/Trinity Stop Sign at San Lucas @ Broadway
Speed Bump on the 1300 Block of Luzern 2nd Avenue/Lightfighter Drive Improvements completed
Vacated right of way at City Center, Poplar, and Rey Street Hwy 1 & CDR Signal Installation – Cooperative Agreement with Caltrans
PARKS

Honored 25 V.I.P. Park Volunteers (2009)

Wheeler Street Tennis Courts renovated (2008)

New restrooms, playground equipment, landscaping, irrigation, fencing, signage and additional maintenance to City-wide parks including Cutino, Beta, Farallones, Laguna Grande, Ellis, Elwood Williams, Metz and Capra parks

Completed renovation of Patullo Swim Center

Partnership with Hope Services for park maintenance

New Landscaping, irrigation and tree replacement throughout the City

Installation of bike racks and lockers at various locations throughout the City

New benches, trash receptacles, ash urns purchased and installed at Oldemeyer Center

Sports field improvements to Metz, Cutino, Soper and Elwood fields

New backflow prevention devices installed at Leslie and Solis Park and at Calaveras/Broadway

New playground, safety surfacing installed at Laguna Grande, Stuart, Cunningham, Farallones, Beta and Soper Parks

Sidewalk repairs and new sidewalk added at Durant Park

Parks Department awarded the annual employer of the year for using HOPE

COMMUNITY AND CULTURE

Semi-monthly art displays in Avery Gallery

Video on Demand of Council Meetings added to website (2010)

Completion of the Seaside History Project (2009)

New City website (2009)

Hosted Amgen Tour of California (2007 & 2008)

Laserfiche upgrade to improve City records management for public records requests (2007)

Established the Senior Taxi Scrip program

Created Monthly Senior Candlelight Luncheon

Established RECTRAC registration and room rental system for Recreation Services

In conjunction with PAL established a Junior Giants Program.

Created annual Tour, Taste and Talent event for the art community

Developed pee wee sports leagues for youth 5-7 year olds in soccer, football and basketball

Celebrated the 25th anniversary of Seaside Jazz art show

Celebrated 60th annual anniversary of parade of champions

Celebrated 20th anniversary of Sunday blues

Developed summer sport camps for youth 5 - 10 years of age

Funded 51 youth organizations with the Mayor’s Youth Fund since 2006

Installation of the John Roberts Statue

Reorganized & implemented new shift schedule for Police Department (2010) Special Response Unit for region approved (2010)
Reorganized Code Enforcement (2010)

Creation of Fireworks Task Force Committee (2009)

Formal adoption of California Building and Fire Codes (2007)

FEMA Certified Search and Rescue dog program (2006)

Fire Contract with Del Rey Oaks

Fire Support Services Provided to Carmel
