  • Vehicles can be tagged in response to a neighborhood complaint or when observed parked more than 72 hours by a peace officer or the Vehicle Abatement Officer. Vehicles moved for a short distance to satisfy the 72-hour limit will not be recognized as complying with the law. The vehicle will be considered as being stored on public property and the registered owner will be liable for towing and storage.

  • You may park on the public street for 72 consecutive hours (3 days).

  • If the vehicle is creating a hazard it can towed immediately. It can also be towed if there are prior offenses. California Vehicle Code 22651(o) Vehicles with expired registration over 6 months authorizes the Vehicle Abatement Officer to tow and store the vehicle without notice.

  • Contact the Seaside Police Department at 831-899-6748. You need to know the date when the vehicle was towed and must have valid identification. You must pay a fee in order to receive a release for the vehicle. Upon retrieving vehicle from the storage facility they may charge an additional storage fee. If you have no desire to retrieve your vehicle, but have personal items, you may retrieve your personal items, however, no parts attached to the vehicle (i.e., radio, battery, hubcaps, etc.) can be removed.
