Child Car Seat Safety Program
The Seaside Fire Department has Certified Child Seat Safety Technicians available to provide residents with a free child car seat safety class by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please contact us at (831) 899-6790 at least one week in advance.
Appointments are conducted one-on-one at the Seaside Fire Department located at 1635 Broadway Avenue.
Program overview
Each child car seat safety class takes approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on the seat and the vehicle. The technician will show the parent/caregiver how to install the seat correctly and then the parent/caregiver will do the final installation. During the class you will be shown how to properly secure the child in the safety seat and the technician will review child safety information.
How to prepare for your appointment
- The car seat cannot be expired, or more than 5 years past the manufacture date (if no expiration date is visible).
- Please bring your car seat manual and your vehicle owner's manual to your appointment.
For more information about the Car Seat Safety Program, contact us at (831) 899-6790.
Prepare Yourselves With Emergency Response Training!
You don't have to leave it to the First Responders when there is an emergency. In the event of an emergency, everyone can pitch in to save lives, property and get our community back up and running. The CERT and CERV programs are community training programs that teach you valuable public awareness about emergency preparedness and promote the community's capacity to responds to natural disasters and man-made emergencies.
Community Emergency Response Training (C.E.R.T.)
Community Emergency Response Team training certification classes are made available to residents of the Monterey Bay Peninsula once a year, free of charge. This two-day and one evening course is designed to help train the public on how local cities will function, and what individuals can do to help in times of emergency.
