Personnel Matters Update

Use of Force Investigation (December 12, 2024)

A thorough and comprehensive investigation into the use of force by a Seaside officer last December has concluded. The investigation, conducted by a third party, determined Officer Crivello did not use excessive force. There were procedural violations and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, including additional training. He will return to active duty following the completion of his disciplinary action and training.

We recognize the significant public interest in this matter and appreciate that it was brought to our attention. This has been an opportunity for growth and improvement within our department. We extend our gratitude to our community and all parties involved for their patience throughout this process, which included several complexities beyond our control.
